The United Architects Basketball League (UABL)

 

is an organized basketball league specifically designed for Architects based in the Philippines who are members of the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP).

The establishment of the UABL aims to address the demand from various UAP Chapter Basketball Teams nationwide, most especially those in Metro Manila, for a well-organized and competitive annual sportsfest. The league will serve as the official platform for all participating teams to showcase their basketball skills, foster camaraderie, and promote values such as leadership, discipline, respect, teamwork, excellence, and sportsmanship within the UAP community

Additionally, the United Architects Basketball League (UABL) serves as a highly anticipated annual recreational platform for basketball loving Architects, providing them with an opportunity to momentarily escape the stresses of their personal and professional lives. Recognizing the demanding nature of the architectural profession, the UABL offers Architects a much-needed outlet to unwind, relax, and engage in a sport they love. By participating in the league, Architects can find balance and rejuvenation while enjoying the camaraderie and friendly competition that basketball brings. The UABL becomes a cherished tradition that architects eagerly look forward to each year, fostering a sense of community and offering a refreshing break from the challenges of life and the architectural field.

Key Details of the Basketball League:

  •  Target Participants: Architects who are members of the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) in the Philippines.

  •  Annual Sportsfest: The league will host an annual sportsfest, bringing together UAP Chapter Basketball Teams from across the  country in a properly organized tournament. 

  • Core Values: The UABL aims to promote and foster values such as leadership, discipline, respect, teamwork, excellence, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among its participants. 

  • Official Recognition: The league has the full endorsement and support of the UAP QC Chapter and the UAP National Board, ensuring its official recognition within the UAP community.
     

Through the United Architects Basketball League, Architects will have the opportunity to showcase their basketball skills, engage in friendly competition, and strengthen the bond within the UAP community. The league will contribute to the personal and professional development of Architects by providing a platform for physical fitness, networking opportunities, and the cultivation of core values essential in both the architectural field and the game of basketball.

These objectives form the foundation of the Architects Basketball League, ensuring that it serves not only as a recreational platform but also as a means to foster personal and professional development within the architectural community.

U . A . B . L .   L E A G U E   S T R U C T U R E

  1. Players per Team: Each team can have a maximum of 20 players. This allows for flexibility in team compositions and player rotations throughout the season.

  2.  Duration of the Season: The duration of the ABL season will depend on the number of teams participating. Considering games are played only on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), the season is scheduled to commence on August 19 and 20.

  3. Game Schedule: The game schedule will be designed to provide fair competition and opportunities for all teams. The exact schedule will be determined once the final number of participating teams is confirmed. Games will be evenly distributed across weekends, ensuring each team has a balanced number of games. 

  4. Regular Season: The regular season will consist of round-robin matches, where each team plays against every other team at least once. This format allows for fair competition and provides an opportunity to evaluate teams based on their performance. 

  5. Playoffs: Following the regular season, the top teams will advance to the playoffs. The specific playoff format (single-elimination, double-elimination, etc.) will be determined based on the number of teams and the desired duration of the playoffs. The playoffs will culminate in the championship game, where the top two teams compete for the title. 

  6. Venue: The league will secure suitable venues that can accommodate basketball games on weekends. Only indoor wooden basketball courts in the local area will be considered, ensuring the availability of facilities that meet safety and playing requirements.
